Reflexology is a deeply relaxing therapy that supports overall well-being and activates the body’s natural healing processes. It can help ease symptoms of existing conditions and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.

About reflexology

Reflexology involves applying gentle pressure or massage to specific points on the feet, face, and hands, known as reflexes. These reflexes are believed to correspond with different parts of the body. When a person is stressed or experiencing illness, certain reflexes can feel sensitive or imbalanced. Reflexology is a deeply relaxing treatment and when the mind and body are relaxed, this supports a natural healing process which often leads to an improvement in symptoms.

Where did reflexology originate?

Reflexology dates back centuries with the earliest reference believed to be around 2500BC recorded along with many other depictions of medical procedures, within the “physicians tomb” in the Egyptian pyramids. More recently reflexology can be linked to the research of English neurologist Sir Henry Head in the early 19th century as well as British neurophysiologist Sir Charles Sherrington who published research on the effects of the nervous system on the brain and spinal cord, and how pressure on the reflexes can affect different organs and parts of the body.
